Boost Your Confidence in Social Situations

Boost Your Confidence in Social Situations

It’s alright if you feel uncomfortable in social gatherings/when you see a lot of people in one place, however, one needs to develop coping mechanisms that can help one survive such a situation.

Some of the people who had similar things, I had known, dealt with such situations by not participating in social/family gatherings, avoiding going out, & all that at the start.

I’m glad of you my Seeker as you attended a few birthday parties & now you are concerned about yours which is understandable.

I would like you to reflect on some questions:

Q. What’s that thing which makes you very uncomfortable when you are in a social gathering?

Q. What is your topmost concern when you are in such a situation, is it about socialization? Being the center of attention?

What is that which makes you so concerned that you start feeling uneasy?

Q. What happens with your body when you are in such a situation? Do you sweat? Do you feel nervous? Your voice trembles?

Visualize yourself in such a scenario, and allow yourself to truly sense and experience the impact of the surrounding environment on your body.

Take a moment to become aware of your body sensations. Use them as information to guide your actions.

Let’s say you were in a situation where you felt your heartbeat increasing, a rise in your body temperature, & sweating in your palms... All this is the information you got from your senses, now, you can move yourself to a place that has good ventilation, and practice DEEP BREATHING (something you can do anywhere, anytime & is so effective.)

Relax, tell yourself, it’s alright & you can manage it๐Ÿ˜Œ

Affirmations work the best when you are feeling them, living them ๐Ÿ˜Š✌️

Mind is great at playing games with us ๐Ÿง

Things won’t be very easy and the very first, automatic thought you may have is, “This situation makes me so Uncomfortable, I won’t be able to manage it.”๐Ÿฅฒ

This is an example of Automatic Negative Thought (ANT)

To counter this you shall go with Positive Energizing Thought (PET)

You can give a PET to yourself, “I’ve felt anxious before, however, I’ve always gotten through it. I’ll do my best this time as well. All I need to do is be calm and focus on the positive parts of the things I’m experiencing.”

Every one of us has our ANTs, figure out yours and counter them with a PET.

My dear Seeker, let your close people be aware of this as when something happens, they know what they shall do. And by that, you will be relaxed as you know that your people have your back ๐Ÿค—

Remember, everyone has their challenges, and you have the strength to overcome yours. By understanding your triggers, practicing coping mechanisms, and fostering positive thoughts, you can approach social events with a newfound sense of calm and assurance. Your close ones, aware of your feelings, will be there to support you, ensuring a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.
Wish you all the very best ๐Ÿ˜‡
