While we are fascinated by the rise of AI, I delved into its impact on loneliness. Humans have been dealing with loneliness for ages, yet we still struggle.
That’s why, as a psychologist, I say:
“Loneliness, a poorly understood problem, shockingly affects not only the individual but also society, and consequently, the entire system and humanity—all at the same time!” -Anmol
Yet, despite its widespread impact, loneliness remains overlooked, dismissed as a personal struggle rather than a societal concern. In reality, addressing loneliness isn’t just about helping one person—it’s about healing the fabric of our communities and strengthening the world we live in.
This is where chatbot companionships are filling the gap. Recognizing this, I took the initiative to research this crucial topic in today’s world.
My research, titled:
“Loneliness Among Adolescents Who Are Users of Chatbot Companionship and Non-Users.”
This was also my dissertation, which I completed while completing my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the Indian Institute of Psychology and Research, Bangalore (IIPR).
I completed my research in 2024 but chose to wait before discussing it openly for two reasons:
1. Publishing it in a reputed journal.
2. Qualifying for the UGC NET exam would allow me to pursue a PhD.
The publishing process is underway, and I remain hopeful. As for the UGC NET exam, I couldn’t qualify this time, but my target is set for June 2025.
Meanwhile, as I continue working and learning through my research, I look forward to connecting with people, mentors, and professors who see potential in me, my work, and my vision. I aim to ensure that AI and chatbot companionships are integrated in a way that truly facilitates and benefits humanity.
