Understanding Sexual Thoughts: Normal Biology, Cultural Perspectives, and Finding Balance

Seeker: I’m a teen & I don’t want to get sexual thoughts
Such things are very controversial, but since I got this query from a Seeker it is my responsibility to address it.

Let’s start with simple things, I will take all of you to a biological level.

Biological Changes

The Seeker mentions that s/he is a teen, in teenage we all know that there are various biological, and hormonal changes, it's the onset of puberty after all.

Adolescence is generally considered to begin with puberty, the process that leads to sexual maturity, or fertility- the ability to reproduce.

Adolescence lasts from about age 11 or 12 until the late teens or early twenties, and it entails major, interrelated changes in all realms of development.

So, at that age, hormones are at their peak, getting attracted to the opposite gender, having sexual thoughts all those things are considered to be normal, just keep a check that they should always be under your control, and you shall never be under their control!

Cultural Perspective

Of course, here our culture plays a very important role, an important role as in how it perceives and entertains such things.

In various cultures these things are not discussed openly, nor are people given the right education about it. When such things come to the surface it is told not to talk about it, forget it, suppress or repress it…

But is repressing a solution?

- Not at all!

We need to think like humans, when one thinks like a human then one would know that it’s okay if sexual thoughts come to your mind, it’s our biology but what you do about them matters!

Every human gets sexual thoughts and masturbation in private is normal.

Thoughts act like triggers, however, it’s we who make a behavior/action!

The Seeker's first line was, “I don’t want to get sexual thoughts,” it could be understandable that s/he is suffering from these things but we shall also consider that the Seeker is resisting sexual thoughts and that’s how it is becoming a problem.

See this is something a part of your life, it’s a component of your existence and in the future of your generation.

Now as I mentioned everyone gets these feelings and thoughts... a lot of us try to get out of it by watching porn and masturbating which helps us release our SEXUAL TENSION.

This could be a new concept to you so learn about it.

Meanwhile, lemme just share how natural and normal all this is.

Spermarche: a boy’s first ejaculation, occurs at an average age of 13.

If one doesn’t do that consciously, then it doesn’t matter, the body will find a way to release those things.

Nocturnal Emission (wet dream): When I was learning about all this I also learned about Nightfall, in nightfall what happens is there is an ejaculation of semen when one is asleep, which simply means if you don’t release by yourself i.e. consciously then your body will, and here I am talking about SEXUAL TENSION!

Balance is the key!

Masturbation is alright when done in the right amount according to the requirements of the body. If done excessively it’s harmful, it not only affects one’s physiology but psychology as well.

You see anything in excess is wrong but when things are in balance, things are good.

So, find a balance!

If one wants to get rid of sexual thoughts, I am sorry I don't have anything to offer which can help you but yeah if you try to balance things, I am sure things will turn out to be healthy.

Don’t ever be guilty of your biological requirements but also do not take it as an excuse for your or others' inappropriate behavior!

We live in a society and so we need to live as per the agreed criteria.

To sum up, it's fine to have sexual thoughts as long as you and they are in control. Please consider consulting if you suspect something is going wrong.

Avoid resisting and repressing because they won't help you in the long run and will only make your problems severe.

I hope this post educated you.
