From Uncertainty to Growth: A Student's Journey

From Uncertainty to Growth: A Student's Journey

It has been a year since I wrote a blog for you guys, I was barely active anywhere. After the greeting message of selection from my dream college, I had my bachelor exams, and after completing those I had to live in an uncertain period because there was nearly no update about joining dates from my dream college, the Indian Institute of Psychology and Research, Bangalore. In that phase, after completing my bachelor’s exam, I was so excited to start my new life in a new city but while I was waiting to get the dates of commencement I experienced uncertainty. Uncertainty is when we have a lack of knowledge, information, or predictability about a particular situation or outcome. I used to check my email multiple times a day, I don’t remember how much I would have refreshed it but nothing was there to pull me out of this uncertainty. When I used to call the college for information about the opening of college for Post-graduation courses sadly from there, I used to get a cold answer stating, “We will mail you.” Days & weeks passed doing the same, living in the same uncertainty until I tried to see what was happening to me. I observed how restless I had been, I observed how I used to open my Gmail whenever I used to unlock my phone, in the hope of some certainty. I didn’t like that phase and I learned that Uncertainty is Uncomfortable, however, the way one perceives it makes the difference. As I got aware of the source of my restlessness, which was uncertainty, shifted my focus, & instead of waiting for the email I started working on the things I cared about, I started working on myself, addressing the things of concern, developing emotional intelligence & self-care. Uncertainty could be Uncomfortable, however, as it tends to keep us on our toes we could use it for our self-growth, self-development, or on our physical health. And lastly, I am glad to share that I’m currently in Bangalore, IIPR. I’m pursuing Counseling Psychology, 2nd-semester 😊
