Is brain Rot really about consuming too much low-quality content?

It’s been said that excessive consumption of low-quality content is linked to what we call Brain Rot. But I don’t think that’s the main issue. The problem isn’t how much content we consume—it’s how we engage with it.

Somewhere along the way, we stopped questioning, reflecting, and actively using our brains to process information.

Sometimes, we scroll through reels mindlessly, passively consuming content as information washes over us. The issue isn’t so much the quantity of content but the lack of critical thinking and curiosity in how we engage with it.

Think about Arjuna from the Mahabharat. When Krishna, the divine himself, shared profound wisdom, Arjuna didn’t just sit back and listen. He relentlessly asked questions—challenging, clarifying, and seeking deeper understanding. It’s because of this engagement that we now have this timeless guide that has shaped lives for centuries the Bhagawad Gita.

Let’s bring back the art of questioning, the curiosity of Arjuna, and the joy of truly understanding what we take in.
